What can we do when locked out of Windows 7 forgot password? This is depend on which type of user account password you forgot. If you locked out Windows standard user, you can login admin account which was permise on this PC to reset or remove that user's password. If you locked out Windows 7 administrator and unfortunately you have only one admin account, it is a little hard to solve this problem.
As we know, there are some tips can be used to reset a lost Windows 7 password such as using another admin account, replace password to locked Windows with CMD, free Windows password reset disk, etc. However, these methods will lead to losing files of tjat user account you reset its password. Here I will show you two secure ways to regain access to your locked Windows 7.
Method 1. Remove User Account Password of Windows 7
In this method, you need a writable CD/DVD or USB and another computer you have access to.
Step 1. Download and install "Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool" on another computer. Create a Windows password recovery disk.
It is very simple, insert a CD/DVD or USB, chosse Burning type and select the disk drive. Then click Burn button.
Step 2. Transfer the disk to your locked computer and set it to boot from USB. Refer to How to boot from USB.
Step 3. Remove administrator password on your locked out Windows 7.
After your PC booting from USB, Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool will start automatically.
1. Click Administrator and click Reset Password. When the program prompts you that the password will be set to blank. Click Yes.
2. The Administrator password will be removed and show "blank".
3. Click Reboot button. When a confirm massage appears, remove you USB first, then click Yes. After restarting, you can login windows 7 administrator without password.
Method 2. Add New User Account to Your Locked Windows 7 Offline
"Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool" allows you to add new user with admin privileges to a locled WIndows 7 offline. The step 1 and 2 is the same as above. When the software starts, click Add User button, type a new user name and password, click OK. A new User account will be shown in the list. Click Reboot, when a confirm message pops up, remove your disk and click Yes. After restarting you can login the new user with new password.
This is also a secure way to unlock Windows 7 without losing files. You don't need to change/reset any user account password.
